Course Overview

In this course, you will get a unique opportunity to conduct a real-world clinical research project in the state-of-the art laboratory under the supervision of leading researchers. The research project can be in an area of your choice and aims to address global unmet clinical needs. This degree is designed to provide you with systematic training in individual components of systems medicine. This includes genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics and metabonomics (metabolomics). A strong focus is placed on metabolic phenotyping and computational biology, which will be supported by access to facilities within the Australian National Phenome Centre (ANPC) and Centre for Computational and Systems Medicine (CCSM).

To enrol in this course, you’ll need to meet one of the following academic requirements. If you’re unsure, a course advisor can help you assess your eligibility.

A recognised Bachelor Degree (AQF Level 7), including evidence of studies in either biochemistry or chemistry and either mathematics or statistics , or completion of the Graduate Certificate in Systems Medicine or Graduate Diploma in Systems Medicine with a course average of 65% or higher. Exceptional applicants with a lower GPA scores who also have research experience and/or relevant professional experience may also be considered.
Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) - No band below 169.
Pearson Test of English (PTE) - No band below 50.
Occupational English Test (OET) - OET with a minimum of C (250-290) in each of the four components.
Internet-based Phoenix English Proficiency Test (iPEPT) Higher Ed (entry into semester 2 2020 and semester 1 2021 only - Overall Grade of B+ with no band below B2+.
