Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you’ll need to meet one of the following academic requirements. If you’re unsure, a course advisor can help you assess your eligibility.

  • Applicants must have successfully completed the Bachelor of Psychological Science or an equivalent program accredited with the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), with a minimum GPA of 5.0 (credit grade average) on a 7.0 point scale, calculated across all 2000 and 3000 level Psychology coded courses contributing to their APAC accredited degree (or equivalent). Applicants who have completed an APAC accredited Graduate Diploma must achieve a GPA of 5.0 across all units contributing to the Graduate Diploma. Entry is competitive and meeting the minimum GPA requirement does not guarantee that an applicant will be admitted to the program.
  • Applicants who have completed their APAC accredited bachelor degree (or equivalent) at an institution other than the University of Newcastle, must provide a supporting letter from the institution clearly stating that they have completed an APAC accredited undergraduate sequence.
  • Whilst applicants may have achieved a grade point average to enable application to this program, an offer is not guaranteed due to a limited amount of places available. Applications will be ranked by academic merit.
