Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you’ll need to meet one of the following academic requirements. If you’re unsure, a course advisor can help you assess your eligibility.

  • An undergraduate degree or higher in visual arts, fine arts, art education, design, architecture or visual media (e.g. photography, film, video, television); OR an undergraduate degree in any discipline with at least two subjects in visual arts, art education or design at university level; OR a Vocational Education and Training (VET) Diploma of Visual or Fine Arts; OR an undergraduate degree in any discipline with five years full-time equivalent professional experience and training in the visual arts supported by written evidence satisfactory to the School of Social Sciences; OR successful completion of Master of Social Science (Studies in Art Therapy) at Western Sydney University. Applicants are required to submit a 500-word statement of intent; a compressed digital portfolio of 10-12 photographs of their artwork; a full CV detailing at least one year full-time or regular part-time work experience (paid, voluntary or student experience) in a supportive capacity in community, welfare, health, arts or education settings; and two referee reports. Applicants may be required to attend a group interview.
