Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you’ll need to meet one of the following academic requirements. If you’re unsure, a course advisor can help you assess your eligibility.

  • International students seeking admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) at Federation University must hold a master's degree by research or a bachelor’s degree with honours at H2A level or above in engineering or a closely related field. Applicants whose academic qualifications are not from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be met through an overall IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0. Equivalent English proficiency may also be demonstrated through TOEFL iBT with a minimum overall score of 79 and section scores of at least 13 in reading, 12 in listening, 18 in speaking, and 21 in writing, or through the Pearson PTE Academic test with an overall score of 58 and no communicative skill score below 50. Admission is also subject to the availability of suitable supervision and a research proposal aligned with the university's areas of research strength.
