Course Overview
The only one of its kind available in Australia, this advanced program has a unique focus on developing practical skills via direct engagement with industry. Throughout the degree, you’ll work on projects with partner firms, hear from leading industry professionals and learn from real-world case studies. You’ll develop a range of technical skills in economic analysis, financial and economic modelling, forecasting and investment. You’ll also learn how to: build financial models to support corporate transactions extract data from our Bloomberg Lab and back-test an investment trading strategy analyse the economics of an energy transition develop and pitch an investment thesis. A structured program plan over the first 2 years gives you the chance to develop strong connections within a tight-knit cohort. At the end of your third year, you'll have the chance to tailor your learning experience. You can choose to specialise in either economics or finance, completing a research thesis and optional business industry placement. Or you can choose an industry-focused pathway, completing your choice of electives, a team project with one of our industry partners, and an applied research project. Our graduates have a reputation for excellence and have obtained a disproportionate share of in-demand graduate roles in investment and institutional banking, markets and trading, economic consulting and funds management.
