Course Overview
Tourism contributes billions of dollars to the Queensland economy and employs thousands of people. While our active local tourism environment makes UQ an ideal place to learn about this vibrant industry, the skills you’ll gain will be applicable anywhere in Australia or the world. This program allows you to tailor your studies through your choice of specialisation and electives. Throughout the program, you'll have opportunities to gain practical hands-on experience with work placements, behind-the-scenes tours and site visits. You can also participate in study tours or sign up for an internship with Disney World Florida. In addition to industry-specific expertise, this program will equip you with a range of transferable skills. These include: critical thinking and problem solving applying strategy to practice business systems and processes communication market research design data collection and analysis leadership and management finance and risk management marketing and sales. This program doesn’t require prior knowledge or experience in tourism, hotels/hospitality or events, making it suitable for anyone looking to upskill or transition into the industry. If you have relevant prior learning or experience, you may be eligible to reduce the number of courses you need to complete the program and graduate sooner.
